Carrying Arms By Political Parties And Factions Banned In Eastern Province

From today onwards except Sri Lankan Police and Army no Party or Faction in the Eastern Province will allow to carrying Arms Eastern Provincial Police announced.Under this neither the members of the Ealam People's Democratic Party(EPDP) led by Minister Douglas Devananda nor Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pukkal(TMVP) led by Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister Pillayan allow to carrying Arms for any reason Police further said.

Twelve Students Suffering From A Severe Cough

Twelve Students who are suffering from a spreadable Cough with Breathing Problems were admitted to the Polonnaruwa Base Hospital in the North Central Sri Lanka both yesterday and today Hospital sources said.These Students are from a Muslim School in the area developed a non stop Cough and due to this measures are taken to stop the spreading of this Cough according to the Dr.Rukshan Bellana the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital.

The Medical Tests carriedout by the Medical Research Institute(MRI) on the Blood Samples of these students revealed that these Students are not suffering from the Swine Flu and it is a Dry Cough caused by a kind of Virus.

Maharagama Cancer Hospital Nurses Receiving Death Threats

Fifty Four Maharagama Cancer Hospital Nurses who are subjected to immediate Transfers are reported as sending Death Threats to the Nursing Staff of the Hospital who are giving Chemo Therapy Treatment to the Cancer Patients.This led Hospital Authorities to get Police Security to the Hospital since yesterday in the view of security of the Nursing Staff .

Police Officers are now petroling the Cancer Hospital preventing any Sabotage Act from the Transferred Nurses according to the Director of the Cancer Hospital Dr.Sulochana Yoganathan.Dr.Yoganadan also said that they received seventy new nurses to the hospital as replacements to the fifty four Transferred Nurses and with the help of them Chemo Therapy Treatment given to all the Patients without any delay.

Meanwhile the Court Case regarding the petition filed at the Supreme Court by the Transferred Nurses of the Cancer Hospital against their Transfers will be taken to review tomorrow.

131 Suspects In Beruwala Unrest Remanded

Around 131 Suspects were arrested and remanded over the attack on Muslim Mosque in the Beruwala Area of the Western Province and killing two people during the unrest in last Friday According to the Police.These Remanded are due to Produce before the Kalutara Magistrate Court on 06th of August.

Three TNA Candidates For The UC Election Under Death Threats

Three Tamil national Alliance(TNA) Candidates who are contesting Urban Council Election in Vavuniya of the Northern Sri Lanka received death threats Center For Monitoring Election Violence(CMEV) said today.According to the Centre P.Paramsothy,N.Madiharana and M.Sellathurai received Death Threats.

In South TNA MP's are branded as Supporting the LTTE.

Domestically Infected Swine Flu Cases Risen To Three

Another Two Swine Flu Patients who contacted the Disease from a Sri Lankan returned from Oversees were identified few days ago the director of the IDH Fever Hospital Dr.Anura Senanayaka said.With these two patients the total number of Swine Flu Patients contacted the Disease domestically have risen to Three and sending alarms to the Health Authorities on spreading of the Disease internally.

So far 54 Swine Flu Patients are reported from Sri Lanka since 18th of June this year and out of them 51 Patients were contacted the Disease in Oversees.

Two Cuban Epidemeologists To Submit A Report On Dengue Bacteria

The two Cuban Epidemiologists who are here to examine the ways of using Cuban Made BTI Bacteria in Sri Lanka to eradicate the Dengue Menace are due to handover a Report regarding this to the Ministry Of Health within Three Weeks time it has been revealed.

According to the Deputy Director General Of Health Services(Public Health)Dr.Palitha Mahipala the two Cuban Epidemeologists are currently examining the Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places at the Hambantota District in Southern Sri Lanka and after visiting other Districts which are most vulnerable to spreading of Dengue, they will handover a Report on how to use BTI Bacteria in Sri Lanka.

After examining the Report Health Ministry will take a decision on how to import and use this Bacteria to Dengue Breeding Sites he stressed.Two Cuban Epidemiologists Dr.Armian Martinez and Dr.Yellina arrived here last tuesday and palnning to stay in the Island for Three Months.
