OIC Of A Kandana Police Arrested Whilst Accepting A Bribe
The OIC (Officer In Charge ) of the Corruption Investigation Division in the Kandana Police had been arrested by the officers of Bribery or Corruption Commission whilst accepting a bribe of Rs.75,000 from a hotel after threatening to file a case against the hotel over providing an accomadation illegally .
The suspect has demanded a bribe of Rs.100,000 from a hotel on lease and received a sum of Rs.25,000 from that bribe on a previous occassion it has been revealed.
Ceypetco Revised Fuel Prices
The Prices Of Fuel had revised with effect from midnight last night(30) according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CeyPETCO ) .
Accordingly the Price of Octane -92 Petrol had been reduced by Rs.10 to Rs.346 ,Octane-95 Petrol increased bu Rs.3 to Rs.426 ,Auto Diesel Price reduced by Rs 27 to Rs.329 ,and Super Diesel increased by Rs.3 to Rs.434 .The price of Kerosene oil had been reduced by Rs.2 to Rs 247 it has been revealed.
A Person Was Killed And Four Others Injured Due To An Accident In Ambalangoda
A person was killed and four others had been injured and hospitalized after the Lorry they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with concrete poles near the Ambalangoda police on Galle-Colombo Main road yesterday (30).
The injured were admitted to the Balapitiya Base Hospital for treatment The incident was occurred when a group of persons on their way to Baddegamae after laying a concrete at a building in Moratuwa area.

Five Including MSD Director Were Remanded Over Supplying Of Substandard Immunoglobulin Vials
Five persons attached to the health sector including the Director of the Medical Supplies Division (MSD) Dr.Kapila Wikramanayake who were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over supplying substandard Human Imuunoglobulin vials to the hospitals ,were remanded until 13 th of December by the Maligakanda Magistrate yesterday(29).
The Case filed over the supplyIng of subsrandard Human Immunoglobulin vials was called up yesterday before the Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywikrama and it has been revealed that around 22,500 vials of Substandard Human Imunoglobulin produced in Sri Lanka were supplied to the hospitals by saying they were imported.
A Youth Has Died Due To A Wall Collapse
A 19 year old youth has died after a wall of house broken by a Wild Elephant collapsed over him at kibissa area in Sigiriya .
The deceased who was a resident of Kibissa area was in sleep in a room at the time of the incident according to the Police.

Sri Lanka To Import Rice Silmilar To Keeri Samba
Sri Lanka is scheduled to import a stock of Rice similar to the local Keeri samba to meet the Domestic rice requirement during the festive season and upcoming holiday season according to the State Minister of Trade,Commerce and Food Security Nalin Fernando.
State Minister Fernando had expressed this decision during his speach at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Trade,Commerce and Food security in Parliament last week.
State Sector Employees Protested Demanding A Pay Hike
State Sector employees representing Several Trade Unions had launched an Island wide Protest campaign in front of the State institutions during lunch break yesterday (27) demanding a Pay hike of Rs.20,000.

Price Of MOP Fertilizer Reduced By Rs.10,000
The Price of Muriate Of Porash(MOP) widely known as "Bandi Pohora" is scheduled to be reduced by Rs.10,000 soon for the ongoing "Maha Harvest season according to the Minister Of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera.
Accordingly the Cabinet has approved a proposal tabled by the Minister of Agriculture to reduce the MOP Fertilizer from Rs.19,000 to Rs.9000 it has been stated.
CEB Cut Down It's Staff
In view of managing the expenses of the Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB) the Board had removed 5000 of it's permanent staff of enployees according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare .
The CEB will be functioned with the essential staff in future the Minister had stated .

More Than 40 Families Evacuated From Haldummulla Due To A Landslide
Authorities have evacuated 49 families from their homes in galbokka area at Punagala,Haldummulla(Badulla District ) yesterday (25) due to a landslide it has been reported .
The evacuated families were moved to the Tamil Collage in Punagala area and to the day care center in Galbokka area and being provided with dry rations the disaster relief Service office at Haldummulla had stated.
The landslide is being occurred at galbokka area in Punagala,Haldummulla and the authorities are due to take a land inspection report from the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) in this regard.

A Female Was,Killed -Three Were Injured Due To A Vehicle Collision
A ninteen year old female was killed and three others were injured when the Three wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Bowser transporting Tar at Galewela city in Matale District (Central hills) it has been reported.
The injured belongs to the same family were admitted to the Dambulla and Galewela Hospitals for treatment .The deceased was identified as a resident of Dehiattakandiya area and she had faced this incident whilst travelling from the three wheeler to a wedding Party In Galewela, area with her parents and sister .
NBRO Issued Alerts Reg.Using Of A Road In Kandy
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has informed the Disaster Management Center yesterday (23)to avoid public by using Gannoruwa-Gohagoda main road in Kandy District due to the risk of falling soil mounds,and rocks to the road.
As a result of the heavy showers prevailed in the area in recent days incidents related to soil mound and rock falls have been reported during last few days according to NBRO.
Public Is being advised to avoid using the road and use an alternative routes when travelling.
Water Supply To Five Colombo Divisions To Be Stopped For 16 hours
A sixteen hour long water cut is scheduled to be implemented in five divisions of Colombo district from this evening (24) due to an Energy Conservation project at the Ambathale Water purification plant according to the National Water Supplies And Drainage Board.
Accordingly the sixteen hour long water cut wil be implemented i Colombo -11,12,13,14 and 15 divisions from 5 p.m this evening to 9 a.m tomorrow morning (25) the Board has announced .

Two Mail Trains Of The Upcountry Railway line Cancelled Last Night (22)
Sri Lanka Railways Department has cancelled two mail trains scheduled to be travelled from Colombo fort to Badulla and Badulla to Colombo last night (22) as a result of the landslides occurred at Upcountry Railway line it has been revealed .

The Badulla -Colombo main road is being Completely blocked for traffic due to the falling of a Soil mound and a large black rock into the section of the road at Balangoda seelogama area in the midnight last Tuesday(21) as the result of the heavy showers prevailing in the area it has been reported.

CID Launched An Investigation On Threats Received By Sports Minister
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation over the threats made against Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe by the Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket Shammi Silva and former Adviser to the Sports Minister Sudath Chandrasekare it informed to the Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday (22).
Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe had complained on these threats made by the Sri Lanka Cricket chairman and his Former Adviser to the CID .

Four Arrested And Remanded Over Importing And Supplying Of Substandard Injections
Four persons including the Director of the Medical Supplies Division (MSD) Dr.Kapila Wikramanayake had been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Over the importing and supplying of Substandard Human Immunoglobulin injections to the Government hospitals.
According to the Police Spokesman Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP) Nihal Thalduwa four employees attached to the Medical Supplies Division including the Director of the MSD Dr.Wikramanayake,An Assistant Director,Storekeeper and the Accountant had been arrested and remanded until 29 th of this month after being produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate Court. The suspects were arrested as a part of the ongoing investigation in the supply of Substandard injections he has stated.
According to the reports the value of the substandard injections supplied to the hospitals is around Rupees one billion

A 12 hour long warer cut is scheduled to be implemented in 04 Urban council and 09 Pradesheeya saba areas in Western province this morning (20) due to ssuspension of water supply to Biyagama watet purification plant as a result of the suddenbreakdown in Electricity Board office in Sapugaskande Electricity Board office.
Accordingly a 12 hour long water cut will be implemented in Paliyagoda,Wattala,Ja-Ela and Katunayake-Seeduwa pradesheeya Saba areas and inKelaniya,Wattala,Biyagama,Mahara ,Dompe,Ja-Ela,Katana and Minuwangoda Pradesheeya,Saba areas as well as in a section of Gampaha Pradesheeya Saba area from 8.30 a.m to 8.30 p.m today (20) according to the National Water Supplies and Drainage Board.
Sri Lanka Navy Had Detained 22 Indian Fisherman In Sri Lankan Warera
Sri Lanka Navy had arrested 22 Indian Fishermen and two fishing boats they were in off the coast of Point pedro(Northern province) yesterday (19) over illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters.
The detained fishermen along with two boats were handed over to the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for a legal action.
During this year upto now 196 Indian fishermen and 29 Fishing boats were taken into custody By the Sri Lanka Navy whilst involved in illegal fishing activities in Sri lankan waters.

Police STF Had Arrestrd A Person With A Stock Of Illegally Imported Cigarettes
The Police Special Task Force (STF) had seized over fourteen million Cigarette sticks imported illegally and arrested a 65 year old person over transporting it near Kelanithissa Power Plant in Paliyagoda area (Western Province) yesterday (17).
The Police Special Task Force had arrested a person when tranaporting the stock of cigarettes by a freighted truck according to the STF.The market value of the seized stock of cigarettes has been estimated as over Rs.1.3 billion

Kelanthissa Power Plant Had Shut Down For Six Weeks
Due to the maintainance work of the Gas and Steam turbine ,The Kelanithissa Power plant will be shutdown for a six week period according to the Engineering Department of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
As a result the National Grid will loose 165 Mega watts of power it has been revealed.
Meanwhile the second Generator of the Lakwijaya Thermal Power Plant in Norochcholai is also need to be shutdown due to a,sudden breakdown of the high preassure heater system the Electricity board had stated.The Generator is expected to connect in five days it has been stated.

Consumer Affairs,Authority Sealed A Hidden Stock Of White Sugar
The Consumer Affairs Authority had sealed a stock of 270,000 Kilo grammes,of white suger hidden in a,store at Paliyagoda area(Western province) until the end of the inquiry currently being held over the incident .
The hidden stock of white sugar has been recovered during an inspection made by the officials of Consumer Affairs authority it has been reported.
Cabinet Decision Need To Appoint An Interim Cricket Board-President's Media Division-Sports Minister Denied The Report
cabinet has decided to recommend a Cabinet approval prior to appointing an Interim Cricket Board in future the President's Media Division has announced .
However Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe has denied the statement made by President's Media division saying a cabinet approval will be needed to appoint an Interim Cricket Board in future and told the media that no such decision has taken by the Cabinet.

Supreme Court Declared Former Presidents Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Gotabaya Rajapakshe And Their Brother Basil As Responsible For The Current Economic Cisis
By declaring an historic judgment The Supreme court of Sri Lanka had yesterday (14)declared Eight Persons including Former Presidents Mahinda,Rajapakshe,Gotabaya Rajapakshe and their Brother former Minister Of Finance Basil Rajapakshe and the Monetary Board of Sri Lanka Central Bank as responsible for the current economic crisis prevailing in the country .
The Landmark judgment has been given by the Supreme court after taking into consideration two Fundemental rights petitions filed by Professor Mahim Mendis and the former Chairman of the SriLanka,Chamber of Commerce Chandra,Jayaratne requesting to take An action against those who are responsible for the Current Economic crisis of the country.Accordingly the The judge panel of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya had announced that the former Presidents Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Gotabaya Rajapakshe ,Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe ,The Monetary Board of SriLanka Central Bank ,Former governors of the Central Bank Ajith Nivad Cabral,Professor W.D Lakshman the member of Central Bank Monetrary Committee Samantha Kumarasinghe,Former Secretary to the President P.B Jayasundare ,Former Secretary to the Ministry of Finance S.R Atygalle were responsible for creating current economic crisis and failed to take any action to resolve it.
The Judge panel however dismissed the two fundemental rights petitions filed by the petitionrs citing they were expired and ordered the respondents to pay Rs.150,000 each to the petitioners as legal costs without ordering respondents to pay compensations.for the damage they have done to the economy.
The Judge panel has also stated that the respondents were directly responsible for breaking the trust of the public and violating the people's fundemental rights .
