Around 30,000 Government employees who are of the age of 60 years had retired yesterday ( 31) accordance to the Government sources .These employees had retired accordance to the retirement age fixed by the government recently .
The previous government had extended the retirement age of Government employees to 65 years and it has been implemented since 01st of January 2022 .However government had decided to reduce the retirement age to 60 again late last year (2022) due to the current economic crisis.
However due to the service requirement secretaries of the President and the Prime Minister had recommended to keep 300 employees attached to the Railways department in service further .The new recruitment's to fill the vacancies created as a result of those who had retired , will be made soon the Ministry of Indigenous affairs had announced.
