Consumer Affairs Authority Has Raided Five Unregistered Stores And Taken Into Custody 12,255 Metric Tons Of Sugar That Were Hidden


The Consumer Affairs Authority had raided five unregistered  stores in the Island which had  hidden Sugar illegally to create a Sugar shortage in the country  and taken into custody 12.255 Metric tons of Sugar it has been reported ,The five stores which had been raided at Seeduwa ,Wattala and Kelaniya areas were sealed according to the Consumer affairs authority ,


The stock of sugar taken in to custody during the raids is scheduled to be distributed among  Private super markets to be sold to consumers the Authority has stated ,

Meanwhile authorities had decided to impose a fixed retails prices for sugar and rice with effect from today (02) it has been announced ,

Government has also taken steps to sell Brown sugar for Rs.130 per a Kilo gramme through the government owned Sathosa outlets it has been revealed ,The Consumer affairs authority continues the raids carried out to find the hidden stocks of rice and sugar in the country ,
