A cluster of Sapphires recovered from a private land in Kahawatte ,Ratnapaura few months back whilst digging the ground is worth more than US Dollars 200 million according to the National Gem And Jewelry Authority .The 510 Kilo gramme Sapphire cluster is due to be auctioned at a fair scheduled to be held in China this September the authorities had revealed .
It is also known as the World's biggest cluster of gems recovered from a single place ,
However some Gem experts are on the view that the Sapphire cluster found from a private land is not worth much as mentioned by Gems and Jewelry Authority ,
Meanwhile State Minister Lohan Ratwatte has today stated that the government will receive 10 percent of the value of this Gem cluster when once it is sold ,
