Fire Occurred In Crude Oil Ship "New Diamond " On Sri Lankan Sea Area Had Been Contained -Sri Lanka Navy


The fire occurred in the Crude oil ship "New diamond "transporting 270,000 tonnes of Crude oil to India from Kuwait "has been contained yesterday  (04) due to a joint fire dousing mission carried out by Sri Lanka Navy and Airforce it has been revealed.

A navel man of the 23 crew member ship has died due to the fire occurred in the ship on last Thursday  (03)at Eastern sea area of Sri Lanka near Sanagamankanda area in Ampara and 22 Naval men of the ship had been rescued by the Navy .

However there 's no threat of reaching oil leaked from the ship towards Sri Lankan shores according to Navy officials.

The fire of the ship which belongs to Panama has occurred due to an explosion of the Boiler in the ship it has been revealed.

Sri Lanka Navy had towed the damaged Crude oil ship towards deap seas yesterday and Sri Lankan officials are due to decide what cause of action need to be taken regarding the ship today .

Indian Navy and Coastal guard force had assisted Sri Lanka Navy amd Airforce during dousing the fire of the ship.

Meanwhile Environmentalists had warned that there's a risk of damaging Sri lanka's  enviornment if the oil leaked from   the ship has reached Sri Lankan shores.
