Sports Investigations Body Investigating Over 2011 World Cup Final Match Fixing Allegations Has Closed The Investigations

The Sports Irregularities Investigation
Unit of the Sports Ministry which began an inquiry over the complaint made by former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage  charging the ICC World Cup Cricket match final between Sri Lanka and India in 2011 has been fixed ,had decided yesterday (03) to close the inquiry due to the lack of evidence available to prove the allegation ,the Police Media Spokesman Senior Supirintendent of Police Jaliya Senaratne has stated .

Former Sports Minister Alitugamage who.is the Mimister of current government as well had submitted a complaint to the Sports investigation body of the Sports Ministry that the World Cup Cricket final in.2011 between Sri Lanka and India held in India has been fixed .

However he has stated that non of the Sri Lankan Cricketers played in that match have been involved in fixing the match which was earlier turned in favour of Sri LANKA and then won by India at the end.

The report regarding the progress of the inquiry has been scheduled to be handed over to the authorities yesterday  (03).

Sports Investigations body had recorded statements from the former Chairman of the Cricket Selection committe during the 2011 world cup Aravinda De Silva ,The Cricket captain then Kumar Sangakkara and former Cricketer who had played the 2011 world cup final Upul tharanga regarding the allegation.

The deputy captain of the team at that time Mahela Jayawardana was also scheduled to be given a statement to the investigation body yesterday ,However he was requested not to come as the body has decided to close the investigations due  to lack of evidence.
