Cabinet has approved a proposal
submitted by Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera seeking to purchase 200 mega Watt capacity of Electricity to add to national grid for a one year period in view of facing the power crisis due to occur in coming months .
The Cabinet paper had stated that the tenders had been already called in this regard from suitable companies and two companies China power holding private limited and Altaka Global solutions limited had been selected for this purpose
Cabinet has also agreed to extend the agreements signed with private companies which are currently supplying electricity.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera had also submitted a report on the huge debt Electricity Board need to pay to Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Current government ministers heavily criticized the good governance government whilst in the opposition over purchasing electricity to National grid from private companies. However they are doing the same thing now to face so called Power crisis
