All Government And Private Schools To Be Re Opened For Third Term Tomorrow (03)
All Government and Private schools
except 12 schools will be re - opened for the educational activities of the third term tomorrow (02) after a month long holidays .
Accordingly 12 schools including Royal Collage ,Nalanda Collage and Hindu Collage in Colombo ,Kingswood ,Seethadevi Balika and Viharamahadevi Balika Collages in Kandy and Saint Anne's in Kurunagala will not be re opened tomorrow due to the marking of answer scripts of the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination. They are due to be re opened for the third term on 16 th of September it has been announced .

A Person Was Arrested With 10,000 Illegal Cigarette Sticks At Katunayake Airport
Airport Customs officers have arrested
a 30 year old small scale Businessman whilst attempting to smuggle around 10,000 Cigarette sticks illegally to the country at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday (31 ).
The suspect who is a resident of Galle District had stored the stock of illegal Cigarette sticks inside his two luggage.
The estimated value of the stock of Cigarette sticks taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.600,000 it has been revealed. The stock of illegal cigarettes is scheduled to be confiscated it has been announced .

Three Persons Arrested With A Stock Of Kerala Cannabis
Navy along with Special Police Task Force personal have arrested three persons with 2.650 Kilo Gramees of Kerala Cannabis in possession during a search operation carried out at Udayapuram area in Mannar last Thursday (29).
The stock of Kerala Cannabis had wrapped in two parcels it has been reported.

Two Persons Had Been Killed Due To Three Wheeler -Bus Collision
Two persons had been killed and four other had been injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Bus near Dankotuwa Hopsital in Dankotuwa-Pannala main road this morning (30).
The injured including two males and two females had been admitted to Dankotuwa Hospital for the treatment .

Five persons including two children had been injured and hospitalized after the Three wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road and crashed in to a lamp post at nelulla area in Wellawaya-Thanamalwila main Road last night (29).

Court has today (30)ordered the National Election Commission to conduct the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election .
The Tribunal Judge panel has issued this order after considering a petition submitted by the Democratic United National Front over a rejection of it's nomination paper for the election of Elpitiya Pradeshiya sabah.
In the petition the petitioner had argued that the rejection of the nomination paper was illegal .
After considering the petition Supreme Court Judge panel has ordered the select officer of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya sabah to accept the rejected nomination list of the Democratic United National Front.
Meanwhile National Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya has said today that the suspended election of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha will be held during the first week of October.

and hospitalized after the lift of a newly constructed building at Marawila Base Hospital had collapsed this noon (30).
The injured who is a laborer attached to the newly constructed building of the Hospital had been admitted to the Marawila Base Hospital for teatment and later transferred to Colombo National Hospital for furher treatment.
The lift was collapsed as a result of a broken wire it has been revealed.
Hospital authorities ordered the construction company which handling the construction work of the new building to halt the construction work immediately until an inquiry over the incident is concluded.

This action has been taken after conducting an inquiry on the accused Instructor Ramachandran Ramesh who had been sexually assaulted 13 students of the school including a female student.
Earlier it has been revealed that the accused Sports instructor had sexually assaulted five male students and a female student. How ever later the number of complaints received by the police against him had risen to 13 .

Two Trains Survived From Colliding Each Other At Maradana Yesterday (28)-Four Workers Attached To A Train Interdicted Over The Incident

Colombo Fort to Chilaw and Maradana to Kalutara had survived from a head on collision each other near the Kovil at Maradana last morning (28).
No one was injured due to the incident accordance to the Railway Control Room .
The incident occurred when the Train number 741 had travelled avoiding train signals it has been revealed .As a result of the incident A Train delay had occurred for few hours in the main Railway line last morning .
Sri Lanka Railways Department Had interdicted the Engine driver ,Assistant Engine Driver, Chief guard and Assistant Guard of the train that avoided signals regarding the incident. A minor board had been also appointed to probe on the incident.

University Activities Are Being Paralysed Due To The Ongoing Strike Of Non Academic Staff

Riot Police have fired tear gas and high preassure water cannons to disperse a Protest march of University students belongs to Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) at Lotus junction in Colombo this Evening (28).
The protesters who had launched the protest march from Technical Junction in Colombo Fort this noon by demamding to ptovide solutions for several demands imcluding removing the private University Act had marched towards the Lotus Junction and when they have attempted to march towards the presidential secretariet riot police have fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse them. .
Police have closed down the Lotus Road due to the heavy traffic congestion crested as a result of the protest march .

(27)taken in to custody around 9000 Liters of Artificial Toddy along with three Persons who had disturbed the search operation of officials at Thal Vila and Muhudukatuwa areas in Marawila.
The officials have also taken in to custody a large number of Barrels and Tanks which utilised to store Toddy from the site .

The indictments against Dr.Samarasekare had been handed over before the Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne .

Another Two Activists Of Banned National Thowheed Jamaath Organization Had Been Arrested

Police Division had arrested another two activists of Banned Extremist group National Thowheed Jamaath Organization and members of Jammathe Millathe Ibrahim who had recieved Arms training with Chief Easter Sunday attacks suspect Mohommad Zahran at Ampara today (27).
The two suspects who are residents of polgolla and Mawanalla areas had received arms training in Nuwara Eliya and Hambanthota camps with Zahran it has been revealed .
The two suspects had been arrested accordance to the information provided by State Intelligence Unit office in Ampara .
