The price of a loaf of Bread will be
increased by Rs.5 with effect from midnight tonight (17) due to the increased Wheat Flour Price By Rs.7 according to the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association .
The decision to increase the price of Bread has been taken at a meeting of the Association held today .
Meanwhile Consumer Affairs Authority has decided to take a legal action against the Two Flour Companies Prima and Serendib which increased the Wheat flour price without obtaining the approval of the Authority.
However the two Flour companies had told that the continuous depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against US Dollar led them to increase the price of Wheat flour. The decision has been taken seven months ago they have stressed.
