Operations Committee Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has handed over the report containing proposals for the constitution, of the expert committee appointed on Drafting a new Constitution to the Constitutional Council last morning (11).
Constitutional Council has met last morning at Parliamentary Complex under the patronage of it's head Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri.
After handing over the report Prime Minister Wikramasinghe has stressed the proposed new Constitution will not betray the country and change thr unitary status of Sri Lanka and protity given to Buddhism.The proposals contained in the report handed over to the Council were not the draft of the new Constitution he has stressed .
No final decision has been taken regarding the abolishing Executive presidency and Election system under the New Constitution Premier has pointed out .
Meanwhile Former President and Kurunagala District MP Mahinda Rajapakshe has questioned whether the Government MP's need a new Constitution.
