New "Laggala Green Town " Has Been Inaugurated

The "New Laggala Green Town " with
Modern facilities built nearby the old Laggala Town  at Matale  (Central Province ) submerged and destroyed due to floods,Has been inaugurated by the President Maithripala Sirisena this morning  (08).

The "New Laggala Green Town "  which has been  designed accordance to Garden City  concept   had been built with the cost of Rs.4500 million it has been revealed.

The City is comprising of  26 State Institutions including A Police station ,Post office ,School ,Hotels ,A play ground ,Hospital , 112 Buildings ,3000 Residents and their houses ,Banks, A community center etc .The Building had been built with the cost of Rs.2043 million .

A Waste Management and Disposal system is being implemented in the city with the aid of Peradeniya University .

The new Green Town   will replace the old Laggala  Town  which destroyed due to recent floods occurred as a result of overflowing Kalu Gamga (Rivrer ).

At  the new Town  ,A half an acre land each provided for farmers  to cultivate it has been revealed.

New Green Town is a  benefit of the Moragahakanda-Kalu Ganga(River)Multipurpose Development project.
