A Large Amount Of Fuel Had Been Leaked To The Sea As A Result Of An Explosion of A Pipe Line Of A Vessel Supplying Fuel To Muthurajawela

Nearly 25 tonnes of fuel had been released to the sea due to a Fuel leak of a Pipe line attached to a Vessel   transporting fuel to the Petroleum Storage Terminal at Muthurajawela occurred as a result of an explosion in the pipe line last night (08)it has been revealed.

DIKowita to Pamunugama  sea coastal areas had been polluted as a result of this Fuel  leak and a black oil spill had been seen at Thaldiyawatte at Uswetakeyyawa sea coast area  ,Wattala since last night according to reports.Pamunugama and Uswetakeyyawa coastal areas had been polluted severely due to this situation .

Sri Lanka Navy Personal along with the workers attached to Coastal Conservation Department are currently engaging in removing the oil spill and it will take around three days to complete it according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

However there will be no fuel shortage in the island due to this situation the Petroleum Corporation has stated.
