Supreme Court Has Suspended The Gazette Notification Issued By President To Dissolve Parliament -Issued Two Interim Orders

Three member Judge Panel of the
Supreme Court has this evening (13)issued an interim  order suspending the implementing of the Gazette Notification issued by President Maithripala Sirisena dissolving Parliament until 07th of December .

The Three member Judge Panel Comprising of Chief Justice Nalin Perera ,Prasanna Jayawardana and Priyantha Jayawardana has also issued another interIm order to the Election Commission to prevent holding an Election.

Supreme Court Judge Panel has issued these Interim orders after taking up for hearing around 17 fundamental rights petitions filed at Supreme Court by Political parties ,Civil organizactions, Civil activists ,A member of Election Commission and Young Journalists Association challenging the Gazette Notification issued by President Regarding dissolving Parliament.

According to the interim orders issued Supreme Court is scheduled to hear 12 petitions filed against Dissolvement of Parliament on 04th,05 th and  06th of December .

In the meantime Parliament can be convened it has been revealed.

Eallier today Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya who appeared before Supreme Court behalf of President has requested the Supreme Court to dismiss all petitions filed challenging president's order as he has dissolved Parliament according to Constitution.

President has extra power to dissolve Parliament outside the Constitution according to the 33 Rd article of the 19th Amendment Attorney General has said

Meanwhile Appointed Minister Udaya Gammanpila and G.L Pieris had intervened the hearing and said no one can Challange President's order before law .
