Parliamentary Speaker Karu Jayasuriya
has requested the President Maithripala Sirisena through a letter sent to him to protect the privilages entitled to Constitutionally elected Prime Mimister Ranil Wikramasinghe ,Until deciding who will receive the majority support in Parliament due to the political conflict created in the country at present .
Speaker wrote to President after the chairman of United National Party Kabir Hashim had requested the speaker to safeguard the security and privilages of their premier .
In his letter to president Speaker has stated that he made this request as he is responsible for protecting rights of every Parliamentarian.
Speaker Jayasuriya has also pointed out that by prorogueing of Parliamentary sessions until 16 th of November a risky enviornment has been created in the country and according to the democratic norms Parliament should be prorogued with the approval of Speaker.
