Sixty passengers have been injured, twenty of them critically and hospitalized after two Private Buses owned by the same owner colliding each other at Pnliyadda-Malsiripura area on Dambulla-Kurunagala main road this noon(09).
The injured were admitted to Galewela,Gokarella,Kurunagala and Dambulla Hospitals for treatment.Two drivers of the buses and A Buddhist monk and a female Buddhist nun were among those hospitalized due to the incident.
The critically injured persons were transferred to the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The injured have been suffered serious injuries to their faces and some of them lost their arms it has been revealed.Many seats belongs to both buses were broken due to the incident.
The accident occurred when one Private Bus traveling from Embilipitiya to Jaffna attempted to overtake another Private Bus traveling from Vavuniya to Embilipitiya.
Due to the accident a heavy traffic was reported in Dambulla-Kurunagala main road for sometime it has been revealed.
The Traffic Unit of the Gokarella Police are investigating over the incident.
