Imprisoned Retired Major General Amal Karunasekare Was Further Remanded

The former director of the Army Intelligence Unit Retired Major General Amal Karunasekare who was arrested and remanded over the encouraging the abduction of former Journalist attached to the Nation newspaper Keith Noyar on 22nd  of  May 2008 ,was remanded further  until 02nd of May by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court today (18) after being produced before the court.

The lawyers of the imprisoned Retired Major General had submitted a bail application seeking bail for their client today when the suspect was produced before the court  ,However the Lawyers representing the Government had strongly opposed granting him bail it has been revealed.

The suspect was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over encouraging the abduction of Keith Noyar .
