Government has today (19) cancelled all Government and Bank holidays scheduled on 01st of May this year in view of International May Day , due to the religious Vesak Poya day and Vesak Week commence from 29th of April.Government has declared 07th of May as an alternative May Day holiday for Government.Bank and Mercantile sectors .May day celebrations are due to take place on that day it has been announced.
The 01st of May holiday was cancelled as per requests made by Buddhist Clergy in view of Vesak Week.
