The former United National Party(UNP) Parliamentarian and Health Minister Renuka Herath has passed away at the age of 72.Mrs.Herath who began her career as a teacher has entered the Parliament in 1977 by contesting from Walapane electorate in Nuwara Eliya .
She has served as a District Minister and Cabinet Minister under the previous UNP Governments and served as the opposition leader of Central Provincial Council at the time of her death.
