Health Ministry Has Imposed A Ban On Government Hospitals To Stop Transferring Blood Test Samples To Private Hospitals From Today (01)

The Ministry of Health has imposed a ban on
Government Hospitals to stop transferring  Blood Test samples of patients to  the private hospitals with effect from today ( 01).

A disciplinary action will be taken against the Hospital Directors who are not implementing this ban the Ministry has stated.

Police Have Arrested Two Suspects Who Had Transported A Stock Of Timber Illegally

Nawagaththegama Police have arrested two persons who were transported a stock of "Teek" and "Margosa"(Kohomba)wood illegally tnrough a tractor at Maddawa,Nawagaththegama area(North Western Province).

The stock of timber transported by the suspects is worth around Rs.200,000 the police have stated.

The suspects and the stock of timber arrested are due to be produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate.


A Storied Building In Colombo Suburbs Caught Fire Due To A Fire Cracker

Colombo Fire Brigade along with Kotahena Police and
residents have doused a fire occurred in a  building which is being constructed at Aluth Hetti Weediya (New Sea Street) in Kotahena (Colombo) last night (31).

The fire has occurred after a 'sky rocket"fire cracker landed into  the gunny bags covering the top of  the  building it has been reported.

The cost of the damage done to the building due to the fire has not yet been  revealed.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested Four Persons With 10 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis

Sri Lanka Navy have arrested four persons with 10
Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in their possession during two raids carried out yesterday (31).

Accordingly two persons with 09 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in their possession had been arrested while they were transporting the stock of Cannabis by the Navy officers attached to Welisara ,Naval Base and Paliyagoda Special Police Task Force Officers.

The two suspects and the stock of Kerala Cannabis had handed over to the Kandana Police for further investigations.

During another raid carried out by Naval Officers attached to Puttalam Naval Base and police officers at eluwankulama area another two persons were arrested with 01 Kilo Gramme of Kerala Cannabis in their possession .The susprcts along with the stock of Cannabis had handed over to the Puttalam Police for further investigations.

President Has Refused To Accept A Resignation Letter Of A State Minister

State Minister Of Local government and Provincial
Councils Priyankara Jayaratne has  been resigned   from his Post  last Friday(30) and handed over the  resignation to President Maithripala Sirisena it has🌏been reported.

The State Minister who is a member of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)chaired by President Maithripala Sirisena has also handed over his official vehicle the sources stated.

The reason behind his decision has  not yet revealed and President has refused to accept the resignation letter of the State  Minister sources have further added.

Expressway Toll Fee Has Been Reduced By Rs.50 From Today (01)

Thr expressway toll fee has been reduced by Rs.50
from 9 p.m to 5 a.m with effect from today (01)according to the Road Development Authority(RDA).

The reduction of the expressway toll fee was proposed through the 2017 budget proposals.

Ampara Police Have Arrested A Person With Fake Currency Notes

The officers attached to Crimes Investigations Division
of Ampara Police have arrested a person with a stock of fake currency notes in his possession at higurana in Ampara District today (31).

Poice officers have also taken into custody a laptop conputer and a Printer which had been used to print fake currency notes.Police officers carried out the raid as per the information provided  by a Canteen Owner.

The suspect was remanded until 04th of January after being produced before the Ampara Magistrate  Court.

Five Houses Drowned In Bandarawela

Five houses in Arawatte-Udaperuwa area at
Bandarawela (Upcountry) drowned this morning according to the reports.

The houses drowned after several cracks appeared on walls with a loud noise it has been reported.

Bandarawela Police officers have evacuated the residents from the drowned houses .This situation occurred as a result of the tunnel being  built under  the Uma Oya project to carry water.

Two Motor Cyclists Were Killed Due To A Motor Cycle-Motor Car Collision Occurred In Pinnaduwa

Eastern Provincial Government Hospital Nurses To Launch Two Day Token Strike Next Week

Nurses attached to the all Government Hospitals in
Eastern Province are due to launch a two day strike on 05th and 06th of January by demanding solutions for their long standing demands including correcting the transfer irregularities of Nurses  according to the Government Nursing Officers Association.

Around 1200 Eastern Provincial Government Hospital Nurses are due to participate the two day strike the Association has stated.

A 71 year old cyclist was killed due to the bicycle he

Unprotected Railway Gate Keepers To Launch 24 Hour Island Wide Token Strike Tomorrow (30)

The unprotected Railway Gate Keepers throughout the
island are due to launch a 24 hour island wide token strike from 6 a.m tomorrow (31) to 6 a.m on Sunday (01) according to Unprotected Raiway Gate Keepers Union.

The 24 hour token strike will be launched by demanding to increase the allowance of Unprotected Railway Gate Keepers from Rs.5000 to Rs.7500 the Union has stressed.

Due to the strike a large number of unprotected Railway Crossings throughout the island will become unsafe the authorities have stated.

President Sirisena Has Instructed The Authorities To Declare Wilpaththu Wild Life Park As A Wild Life Zone

President Maithripala Sirisena has today
(30)instructed the relevant authorities to expand the Wiplaththu  National Wild Park further and declared it as a wild life zone which includes the wild lands attached to the park through a gazette notification.

President Sirisena has also instructed the authorities not to allow anyone to clear the forests  in the country at any cost and take a legal action against anyone who is responsible for such acts without considering his/her status during a meeting held with institutional heads attached to Enviornment Ministry today (30)at president's office.

A Psychiatrist Attached To A Colombo Private Hospital Hospitalized Following A Stab Incident

A 41 year old Psychiatrist attached to a private hospital in Slave
Island (Colombo) has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)of the hospital after being stabbed by a person believed to be one of his patients this evening (30l according to the police.

The Psychiatrist who received severe stab injuries due to the knife attack had undergone surgery this evening it has been reported.

The Security officers attached to the hospital with the help of those present  had caught the suspect   while he was on the run after the stabbing incident and handed him  over to  the police.

The suspect had assaulted the Psychiatrist on last Oc tober  too ,however his arrest was prevented by the Doctor himself due  to the health condition of the suspect it has been revealed.

A 46 Year Old Person Was Drowned In Seas Off Pasikuda

A Youth Who Was Arrested And Remanded Over Making Death Threats To Three Country Leaders Through FB Released On Bail

COURT ORDER සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලThe Youth who was arrested and remanded over making death threats to President,Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader in the Country has been released on bail today(30) by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Atygala.

The suspected Youth was released on two personal bails of Rs.100,000 each by the Magistrate after been produced before the Court today.
