JVP Leader Urged The Need To Pardon Suspects In Remand For Over Seven Years

The leader of the Opposition Janatha Vimukthi
Peramuna (JVP) Anura Kumara Dassanayake has yesterday (26)urged at the Parliament the need to pardon some suspects who are in remand for over seven years .

Whether these suspects are guilty or not guilty for a crime some of them may be in jail for a crime which deserves seven year or less imprisonment  MP has stressed.

MP Dissanayake has stated that it is unreasonable for a suspect to be in remand custody  for over seven years.

Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella has stated that president has already appointed a committee to look into the matter.

MP Dissanayake urged that the committee should look into all the suspects who are in remand for more than seven years not only the LTTE suspects.
