A Customs Officer And His Driver Has Been Arrested While Transporting A Stock Of Foreign Liquor

The special narcotic raid unit of the Ministry Of Finance had today (05) arrested a customs officer and his driver while transporting 60 bottles of foreign liquor illegally by a car in Colombo.

The stock of foreign liquor bottles arrested is worth around Rs.400,000 according to the Police.

Both suspects were released on personal bails
of Rs.200,000 each after being produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate Court.The case regarding the transporting foreign liquor bottles illegally is due to hear next friday.

Meanwhile the Department Of Customs has interdicted the suspected customs officer aftee his arrest.

The special narcotic raid unit of the Finance Ministry has carried out the raid with assistance of Sri Lanka Customs,Police Special Task Force and Army Intelligence Division .
