The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID)has today(12) detained former minister of economic development basil rajapakshe over a land issue in Matara (In Southern Province) .The former minister who is also the younger brother of former president mahinda rajapakshe was detained after he gave a statement to FCID regarding the allegation leveled against him this morning .
He was detained in April last year over a financial irregularities occurred in Divi Naguma Department attached to his ministry then and was released on bail in last June .The court case regarding financial irregularities in divi naguma department is still pending at Kaduwela Magistrate Court.
