The Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Epidemiology Unit to check the suitability of Dengue Vaccine which was manufactured by a French Company and accepted by World Health Organization in view of using in Sri Lanka.
If it is found the Dengue Vaccine is suitable to use in Sri Lanka ,Authorities should import the vaccine for Sri Lanka's Dengue Control Programme) the Health Minister has stated.
Minister Dr.Senaratne has also instructed the newly appointed acting Chief Executive Officer of Independent Drug Regulatory Authority Dr.Kamal Jayasinghe to register the Dengue Vaccine manufactured in France if it found suitable for Sri Lanka.
The French Ambassador to Sri Lanka has met with Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne recently and informed him on the newly manufactured Dengue Vaccine.
Mexico and Philiphines have already decided to use the newly manufactired Dengue Vaccine in their countries.
