The Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB) has this evening announced the Island Wide Power Failure occurred for few hours was due to a possible lightning strike on a Transmission Line from Polpitiya(In Central Province) to Kolonnawa(In Colombo).The Island Wide Power Failure which occurred at around 2.15 p.m this evening had effected the activities of entire country and a severe traffic congestion has been reported from City Of Colombo due to the dis functioning of Signal Lights as a result of the Power Failure .
Ceylon Electricity Board has taken steps to restore the full power supply by 6 p.m this evening.
Meanwhile the Minister Of Power Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has ordered the relevant authorities to conduct a special investigation on the sudden island wide power failure and submit a report to him at the earliest.
