A 39 year old Sri Lankan has been arrested this morning by the Sri Lankan Custom Officers at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Air Port when he trying to smuggle 41 live tortoises to Thailand .The suspect who is a resident in Grandpass,Colombo has been arrested by Sri Lanka Customs biodiversity,cultural and national heritage protection unit this morning around 1.20 a.m at the Departure Lounge when the suspect has attempted to board TG308 Flight to Bangkok,Thailand .
The 41 Tortoises concealed in suspect's luggage have been handed over to the Wild Life Department and the suspect has fined of Rs.200,000 according to Custom Officers.
