Sri Lankan Government has taken steps to release 55 out of the 104 detained Indian Fishermen which the government has decided to release as a goodwill gesture to mark Hindu Festival "Thaipongal".The remaining detained Indian Fishermen will be released after been produced them before courts in Trincomalee and Mannar on 18th of January the Government has said.
These Indian Fishermen have been detained by Sri Lankan Navy while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Waters .
