The president Maithripala Sirisene who was under heavy criticism last few days of several sections including his party the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and civil organizations due to the decision he has taken to give nomination to former president Mahinda Rajapkshe to contest in the forthcoming parliamentary election,reported as going to stay away from the election campaign .The prime minister Ranil Wikramasinghe when interviewed by the "The Hindu" paper of India has stated that as the president was elected to office on 08th of January this year as a neutral president of the country he should have not taken part in the election campaign of United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) which he is chairing.
