In Sri Lanka 12 out of every 100,000 Children under 16 years of age are dying due to accidents according to the Consultant Community Physician Dr.Kapila Jayaratne .Around 90% of these deaths have occurred due to blocking of respiratory system he has said.The deaths among st Sri Lankan Children of under 16 years due to the blocking of Respiratory System are on the increase Dr.Jayaratne has stressed.The majority of those died due to the accidents are boys it has been revealed.
Addressing a Media Seminar on "Preventing Accidents Among Children" held at Health Education Bureau today(11) Dr.Jayaratne has said that Accidents are identified as the fourth major cause for the deaths amongs t children under 5 years of age.
