Seven Doctors attached to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital were fraudulently drawn a sum of Rs.45,000 per month as overtime payments by using false claims during the period of February 2011 to March 2012 the Auditor General's Department has revealed.according to the department each of these doctors have drawn Rs.630,000 as their overtime payments during the said period by using false claims.
These doctors changed their overtime working hours by erasing the original arrival and departure times of the diaries maintained by them and involved in this fraudulent activity auditor general department has revealed in the cause of preliminary inquiry held in this regard.the department has also informed the findings on this inquiry to the health secretary Dr.Nihal Jayathilake and requested director of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital to give an explanation on this fraudulent activity.
