The Health Ministry Secretary Dr.Nihal Jayathilake has instructed authorities of Post Graduate Institute Of Medicine (PGIM),Colombo last week to stop conducting fresh post graduate courses for local MBBS Doctors with immediate effect .Due to this action there is a dearth of medical specialists in the country according to medical circles .The Post Graduate Institute Of Medicine in Colombo is the only such institute in Sri Lanka conducting post graduate courses for MBBS Doctors .
