The first ever Sri Lankan theater equipped with modern facilities The"Nelum Pokuna " (Lotus Pond)Mahinda Rajapaksha National Performing Arts Theater was declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksha this evening .The Rs.36,000 Million Theater is gifted to Sri Lanka by Peoples Republic Of China.Chinese Delegate compromising with the special envoy Zhang Meiying who is the vice Chairperson of Chinese People"s Political Consultative Conference was also graced the occasion.The Newly Built Theater situated in heart of Colombo is equipped with One Main Theater two mini Theaters,Operational Units,M eating and Dressing Halls.An Underground Car Park too built there for Artistes and Visitors.
The Road from Horton Place to the Public Library in Colombo 07 was also named as Nelum Pokuna Road.
