Three Baby
Elephants were killed when they were hit by a Passenger Train near
Ambanpola in North of Colombo today according to the Sources.These Baby
Elephants were hit by Train when they were crossing the tracks in a
forested Area near Ambanpola.
The passengers in the train were unharmed according to the sources.
This
is the second such incident happened involve in a group of Elephants in
recent months when three elephants were hit by a train in Eastern Sri
Lanka two months a go by killing two elephants.
It has
been reported that atleast 100 Elephants are killed each year while the
estimated 12,000 Elephant Population in the country on 1990 has been
dropped to 4000 at present.
