27 people died and over one million people were affected due to the worst ever floods from decades hit in most parts of the Island due to the heavy showers according to the Disaster Management Center.Disaster Management Center also said that there are 47 injuries and 12 people also missing due to the flood situation.More then half out of over one million people affected due to floods are from Batticloe District of the Eastern Province,As a request made by the government to the public on donating essential items to the flood victims donations of food,medicine and clothing are pour in to the centers which are collecting these items to distribute amongst the affected people.
