One Thousand Two Hundred Nurses Filed Two Court Cases Against The Health Ministry
Around One Thousand Two Hundred Nurses who are Selected for the Special Grade Nurses Training(Sister Grade)Course Filed Two Cases Against The Ministry Of Health Charging Their Human Rights are Violated Due to the Stop their Training Course before completing it.Six Hundred Fifty Nurses Selected For this Training from Provincial Council Hospitals and Five Hundred Fifty Selected from The Central Government Hospitals were Filed Two Cases and the Hearing of these Cases Due to Commence on 13th Of January.
According to these Nurses Ministry Of Health Selected them for this One and Half Years Training and It Began on April 21st.But Suddenly without a Prior Notice Ministry stopped the Training by saying that the Public Services Commission is not Granted Approval for the Training.

Government Reduced The Fuel Prices

Prof.Senaka Bibile Organization Complained That Thirty Six Drugs Were Removed From The Hospitals Due To Quality Failure
Professor Senaka Bibile Commemorative Organization Said yesterday(19) that Thirty Six Drug Items Including the Paracetamole and Doxycycline which is Prescribed for Leptospirosis were Removed from the Government Hospitals Recently by the Medical Supples Division(MSD)due to the Quality Failure.Most of these Drugs were Issued to the Patients and were Expired when the MSD Informed the Hospital Authorities to Remove them Dr.Jayatha Bandara The Secretary of the Organization Said.Addressing a press Briefing in Colombo He Stressed that Large Number of Complaints were Received about the Patients who are Developed Side Effects after getting these Drugs.It is sad to see that the Ministry Of Health Perticuely the Health Minister is Trying to Hide these Facts Despite Holding an Inquiry on this by saying that No Drug was Removed From The Hospital Due To Quality Failure.

As the Trade Union Action Of the Cancer Hospital Nurses On Stop Performing the Chemo Therapy Treatment On Patients Has entered it's Fifth Day The Ministry Of Health Today(14)Decided To Implement A Proper Training Programme For The Nursing Staff Of The Cancer Hospital On Chemo Therapy Treatment and to Create a Safety Environment In the Cancer Hospital for This Treatment as Demanded by them.Under This the ministry will Implement a Training Programme On Chemo Therapy with the Assistance from the World Health Organaization and also Decided to Build a Unit For Storing and Issuing Chemo Therapy Injections and Issuing Safety Masks For the Nursing Staff Involved in this Treatment Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage said."We already sent Our decision to the Salary and Census Commission Seeking the Approval to Increase the Risk Allowance paid to The Health Staff Of The Cancer Hospital Involve in Chemo Therapy From Rs 500 to Rs.3000" He stressed.Health Secretary also Said that Tomorrow he will Inform The Cancer Hospital Nursing Staff on These Decisions.

The Nursing Staff Of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital the only State Owned Cancer Hospital in Sri Lanka Stopped performing Chemo Therapy Treatment for the Cancer Patients Since Yesterday and the lives of 400 to 500 Cancer Patients Receiving this Treatment are in Danger Due to this Hospital Sources said.Nursing Staff Stopped Performing Chemo Therapy Treatment Demanding giving them a Proper Training on this Treatment and Introduce a Special Security System on this Therapy A Senior Nursing Officer said."We are Demanding these From the Health Ministry within the last twelve years but Ministry Authorities Continuously Failed to Meet our Demands.So we have no other option then Going for this Action" He further Added.
Due to The Nursing Officers Trade Union Action Large Number of Outdoor and Indoor Patients are Suffering Hospital Authorities said.Meanwhile Some Trade Unions said the Nursing Staff who are in the Trade Union Action Demands Rs 10,000 Risk Allowance which they Did not mention openly.However Ministry Of Health Today Said that the Rs 500 Risk Allowance Paid to the Some of the Nursing Staff of the Cancer Hospital is Increased to Rs.3000 and all the Health Staff Involve in this Trearment WILL receive this.But the Nursing Officers of The Cancer Hospital said that the Ministry Officials Promised this Increased Allowance Three Months ago But the Authorities Still failed to Issue a Circular Regarding this Increased Allowance Up to Date.
