Road Regulations On Carriageways To Be Strictly Implemented In Colombo City From Tomorrow(26)

The Road Regulations on Carriageways in the Colombo City is due to be strictly implemented with effect from tomorrow(26) according to the Police.

The Police Department has warned that legal action will be taken against the Motorists who are breaking the Road Regulations on Carriageways from tomorrow.

 A special training had already given to the  Traffic Police Officers on Regulations relevant to Carriageways the Police Department has said.

Two Youth Who Were In Critical Condition Due To Consuming Poison Admitted To Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital

Two Young Males who were in critical condition due to consuming  poison at a room of a Holiday Resort attach to Anuradhapura Railway Station (In North Central Province) have been admitted to the Anuradhpura Teaching Hospital today(25) according to the Police.

The two youth aged 26 and 37 were reported as staying in the Holiday Resort since 22nd Of November.

Anuradhapura Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.

President Sirisena Had Instructed The Finance Minister To Increase The Decreased Import Tax On Low Alcohol Beer

President Maithripala Sirisena has today (25) instructed Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to increase the import  tax imposed on Beer with less than 5% Alcohol Content which has been decreased through the 2016-Annual Budget .

Finance Minister had suggested to decrease the import tax on Beer with less than 5% Alcohol Content from Rs.190 to Rs.160 through the Annual Budget presented to the Parliament on last Friday(20).

However President has instructed Finance Minister to increase the import tax on low alcohol beer as through decreasing the tax will be a promotion act for it.

Consumer Affairs Authority Has Launched Raids To Check Whether The Traders Are Implementing The Price Reductions Of Commodities

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has launched a series of raids to check whether the local traders are implementing the price reductions of commodities introduced through  2016- Annual Budget presented to Parliament on  last Friday.

The Prices of 11 Essential Commodities including Gas have been reduced with effect from 20th of November through the Budget.However the Consumer Affairs Authority has received complaints from several consumers that the traders are still not yet implemented the new price reductions .

The Authority is requesting the consumers to inform on traders who are not implementing the said price reductions to either  the number 1977 or to the  Consumer Affairs Authority.

Nine More Police Officers Have Been Appointed To Presidential Commission Of Inquiry

Around Seven Police Officers attach to the Commission have been transferred to the Police Stations they were attached earlier according to Police Spokesman Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) Ruwan Gunasekera.

Three Minsters Have Requested The IGP To Conduct An Investigation Regarding Avant Garde Chairman's Controversial Statement

Three Ministers of the Present Government have today(24) requested the Inspector General Of Police(IGP) through a letter to investigate on the allegations made by  Chairman of controversial Avant Garde Limited Nissanka Saenadhipathi regarding bribing them.

The Ministers Dr.Rajitha Senaratne,Patali Champika Ranawaka and Arjuna Ranathunge have sent a Joint Letter today To IGP by stating the Avant Garde  Chairman's statement has tarnished their credibility  and therefore an investigation should have been conducted on this soon.

The Avant Garde Chairman has told during  an  Interview with a media institute  recently the said minsters  are acting against Avant Garde due to his refusal to  paying them bribes.He has also said that he can prove the requests made from him to bribe the said ministers.

Duty Free Vehicle Permits Have Been Suspended From 21st Of November

Image result for duty free vehicle permitsThe Duty Free Vehicle Permits offered under different schemes to professionals and Parliamentarians have been suspended with effect from 21st of November according to Ministry Of Finance.

Due to this the letter of credit for those who have obtained the Duty Free Vehicle Permits on or before 20th of November should be opened before 31st Of December the Ministry has said.

The Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has suggested to abolish the Duty Free Vehicle Permits offered to Professionals and Parliamentarians through the 2016-Budget as due to these permits Government is loosing revenue around Rs.40 Billion annually. 

One Person Was Killed As A Tree Fell on To A Moving Motor Bicycle And Two Three Whealers At Dematagoda

A person on Motor Bicycle was killed  as A Tree had fell on to his moving bicycle and  two Three Whealers at Baseline Road in Dematagoda(In Colombo District)this evening .

The accident has occurred in front of Railway Grounds near Welikada Prison in Dematagoda and the deceased succumbed to his injuries after getting admitted to Colombo -National Hospital Accident Ward with serous injuries according to the Police.

A severe traffic has been reported in the area for few hours due to this accident and Police have advised the motorists to use alternative routes.

Due To The Lack Of Money Allocated For Health Sector Through The Budget Drugs And Surgical Item Shortage In Govt,Hospitals Will Continue-Nurses Union

Image result for drugsDue to the allocating less money for the Health Sector from  2016- Annual Budget Proposals the Drugs and Surgical Item shortage as well as the Health Staff shortage prevailing in Government Hospitals at present will continue during  next year as well according to All Ceylon Nurses Union.

Besides this innocent patients who are  bear   around 60% of the total expenditure of Government Hospitals at present due to drugs and surgical items shortage ,will have to increase the expenditure further due to the lack of money allocated for the Health Sector for next year  which is around 1.5 % from the Gross Domestic Product(GDP) the union has stressed.

The All Ceylon Nurses Union has named the 2016-Annual Budget Proposals presented to Parliament on last Friday(20) as a Budget without future vision and a National Plan for Health Sector.
