Minister Prasanna Ranatunge Was Sentenced To Two Years Imprisonment Suspended For Five Years Over Threatening A Businessman

Colombo High Court had today (06) sentenced  Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunge  to two year imprisonment suspended for five years over a case filed for threatening a businessman over the phone and demanding Rs.64 million ransom in 2015 ,

The High Court had also ordered  the Minister Ranatunge to pay a fine of Rs.25 million and In the event of defaulting the fine the Minister was ordered to serve nine months imprisonment. In addition the High court had ordered the Minister to pay a compensation of Rupees one million   to t he virtual complaint of the case ,Businessman Gehad Mendis had lodged a complaint against the Minister Ranatunge ,

Colombo Commercial High Court Suspended The Injunction Order Against Russian "Aeroflot "Flight

 Colombo Commercial High Court had today (06) suspended the injunction order issued by the Court Previously preventing the Russian national carrier "Aeroflot " flight from leaving Sri Lanka .

Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Harsha Sethunge had suspended the Injunction order issued by the Court on 02nd of June by preventing the "Aeroflot " flight "Airbus A-333-343" from leaving Colombo to Moscow in Russia after considering the motion filed by Attorney General .

Colombo Commercial High Court  judge had earlier issued an Injunction  order preventing the "Aeroflot " flight carrying more than 200 passengers from leaving Sri Lanka after considering  a complaint made  by Celestial Aviation Trading Company in Ireland .

Ireland based Celestial Aviation Trading Company Limited  which is  one of the largest Plane leasing firms is seeking to confiscate the Aeroflot flight jet  after  Russia failed to return it's Property /.Colombo Commercial  High Court had stressed that the Ireland based company had mislead the court to get an Injunction order to ban Aeroflot flight flying to Moscow from Colombo  Judge Sethunge has stated ,

 Cement Companies had increased the Price of  50 KG Cement bag by Rs.150 according to the Cement Company sources .

With this price hike the Price of a 50 KG Cement Bag had been increased  to Rs.3000.Cement Companies had earlier increased the  price of 50 KG Cement bag by Rs.500 to Rs.2850 .

Government To Declare Friday As A Day For Working From Home For Govt ,Employees

 Due to the  Fuel and Economic crisis prevailing in the country at present  Government has decided to declare Fiday as a day of working from home for Government employees .

Accordingly from this week Government employees need to come to office  only four days it has been announced .

Minister oF Public Administration Dinesh Gunawardena is due to submit a a Cabinet paper to the Cabinet  regarding declaring  Friday as a day for Government employees to work from home the Minister Gunawardane has stated ,
