How A Returnee From Italy Opposed Quarantine Process At The Katunayake Airport Weeks Ago


CIvil Aviation Authority Has Decided To Close All Airports In The Country Until Further Notice

Civil Aviation Authority has today (04)decided to close down all Airports including Katunayake International Airport for incoming flights  until furher notice to avoid spreading of Corona Virus here .

Earlier the Authority has decided to close down the Airports until 31st of March and then it extends  until 07 th of  April .

However all departure and cargo flights as well as transit flights  and humanitarian missions will be continued as usual Civil Aviation Authority has stated. 

273 Corona Virus Suspected Cases Are Being Treated At 28 Government Hospitals

Around 273 corona virus suspected cases are being currently treated at 28 Government Hospitals according to the Latest situation report issued by the Epidemeology Unit.

Majority of these suspected cases which is 68 are being treated at Homagama Base Hospital and 21 patients are being treated at Welikanda Base Hospital .

Out of these 273 suspected cases 272 are Sri Lankans and there is a  one  foreigner.

Meamwhile 136 corona virus positives are being currently treated at 03 government Hospitals including Infectious Diseasss Hospital in Angoda,Welikanda Base Hospital and in Eastern Colombo Base Hospital in Mulleriyawa.

Majority of the Corona Virus positives which is 38 patients have been reported from Colombo District and almost all of them wete infected with the virus due to a relative or a family member returned from overseas it has been reported. 

Updated -Sri Lanka-Seven Corona Virus Patients Reported -One Died And Three Discharged Within Today (04)

Seven corona virus positives and One Corona virus Death had been reported today  (04)by 10,55 p.m according to the Epidemeology Unit

With the corona death reported today  (04) the total number of Corona deaths reported from Sri Lanka has been incresed to 05 .The deceased was a 44 year old person who had recently returned from Italy and hospitalized whilst under quarantine at a quarantine Center it has been reported .
He had been admitted to the Welikanda Base Hospital for treatment due to corona virus symptoms shown by him .The deceased who was a resident of Homagama Area didn't suffer from non communicable diseases and died as a result  of severe Pneumonia the Health Ministry has stressed .

Meanwhile with the seven  new Corona virus positives reported from the country today the total number of Corona positives in the country had risen to 166 .

Another three corona virus positives treated in Government Hospitals had been discharged today after being recovered fully increased  the number of discharged corona virus positives to 27 .

Imprisoned Former Sri Lankan Ambassador Udayanga Weerathunge Released On Bail Yesterday (03)

Udayanga Weeratunga remanded | Daily NewsFormer Sri Lankan Ambassador To Russia Udayanga Weerathunga who had been arrested and remanded  over the scandalous Mig Aircraft deal ,has been granted bail yesterday   (03) by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.

Accordingly Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake had   released the former Sri Lankan  Ambassador on Rs. 2.5 million  worth cash bail and two Surety bails of Rs.50 million each after hearing his case through video technology.

Suspect Weerathunge who  was arrested on his arrival last February had been remanded by the court and was in prison Hospital until Yesterday.

The Magistrate had announced the decision based on the spreading of Corona virus in the country. it has been stated.
