A Wild Elephant Was Killed Due To An Electrocution

A Wild Elephant around 25-30 years old has died due to an electrocution at a Private land in Neluwagala area ,in Wellawaya Provincial Secretariat yesterday(13) according to reports.

Image result for electrocutionThe elephant has died due to an Electrocution caused by an Electric wire attached to a Motor use to get water to a house it has been revealed.

Wellawaya Wild Life Officers along with the Wellawaya Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Female And Her 27 Month Old Daughter Were Killed Due To Motorcycle-Bus Collision

Image result for accidentA 24 year old female and her 27 month old daughter were killed and the father of the deceased daughter was critically injured and hospitalized after the Motorcycle they were traveling colliding with another Motorcycle traveling in same direction and run over by a Private Bus arrived in behind  near Nugawela Depot in Kurunagala-Kandy main road this morning (14).

The three persons in the Motorcycle were critically injured due to the accident and admitted to the Thiththapajjala Hospital in Nugawela where the mother and daughter were pronounced as dead.

The deceased were residents of Ambanpola area and traveling from Kurunagala to Katugasthota area at the time of the incident.

Katugasthota Police have arrested the Bus driver regarding the accident.

Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero Was Sentenced A One Year Rigorous Imprisonment Over Making Death Threats

Related imageHomagama Magistrate Court has today(14) sentenced the General Secretary  of the Bodu  Bala Sena Ven.Galagodaatte Gnanasara a one year rigorous imprisonment suspended to six months over making death threats to Sandya Eknaligoda the wife of the disappeared cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda at the Homagama Court premises on 25th of January 2016 .

Homagama Magistrate and Additional District Judge Udesh Ranathunge  has also ordered the Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero to pay Rs.50,000 as  compensation to the Sandya Eknaligoda and imposed Rs.3000 fine as well when the court case against him was taken up for hearing today.

Homagama Magistrate has decided on 24th of May that the Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero was found guilty over the charges after prolonged court case and postponed to impose the punishment until today.
