Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe Had Filed A Revised Petition By Seeking Suspension of A Case Against Him

Former Defense Secretary and a younger brother of
former President Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Gotabaya Rajapakshe had yesterday (23)filed a revised petition before the Court of Appeal by requesting to suspend the hearing of a case filed by Bribary commission against him and few other over giving permission to Avant Guarde Company to maintain floating armoury in Galle Harbour and incurred a loss of Rs.14 billion to the government.

The revised petition was filed by Attorney At Law Sarath Wijewardane behalf of the Former Defense Secretary yesterday (23) by naming the director general of Bribary Commission as main respondent.

A Person Was Committed Suicide By Jumping In Front Of A Train

An unidentified person had committed suicide by

jumping in front of a Train running from Maradana to Galle between Rathgama and Dodanduwa train stations on last Thursday (22)night it has been reported.

The persons identity and the cause of the suicide not yet been revealed.The post mortum of  body of the deceased was conducted at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital yesterday (23).

Imprisoned Two Chief Suspects Of The Bond Scam Transferred To Prison Hospital

The two chief suspects of the controversial Central
Bank bond scam Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena of Perpetual Treasuries who were remanded had been transferred to the Prison Hospital from Magazine prison under the medical recommendation after they have complained on breathing difficulties and back problem according to sources.

Arjun Aloysius who is the owner of Perpetual Treasuries had complained on breathing difficulty due to the dust and cold enviornment in the prison cell and other suspect the chief executive officer of the Perpetual Treasuries Kasun Palisena had complained on a breathing difficulty and a back problem.They were slept in the floor of the E ward of the Magazine prison it has been revealed.

A medical consultant attached to the Colombo National Hospital due to inspect their condition on next wednesday and future action on the two bond scam suspects due to be taken according to the doctor's recommendation authorities said.

A Father Was Killed And His Son Critically Injured Due To A Road Accident.

A person was killed and another critically injured and
hospitalized  after the Lorry they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled over the road at 10th post on Trincomalee-Horowpathana main road last evening (23).

The critically injured was admitted to the Trincomalee General Hospital for treatment.

The deceased was identified as a 59 year old father while the critically injured is his 24 year old son who was driving the Lorry at the time of the accident.

Most Senior UN Resident Co-Ordinator In Sri Lanka Ms.Una Mccauley Has Passed Away After Brief Illness

The United Nations Resident co-ordinator and 
Resident representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)to Sri Lanka  Ms.Una Mccauley had passed away last night (23) suddenly following a brief illness at the age of 54 United Nations Office in Colombo,Sri Lanka has announced.

Ms.Mccauley who was the most senior United Nations Official in Sri Lanka and first Female United Nations  Resident co-ordinator in the country was on medical leave to undergo a treatment for her illness.

Issuing a statement regarding the sudden death of Ms.Mccauley ,The United Nations Office in Colombo Ms.Mccauley was a bold,inspring and strong leader as she led the United Nations country team of 21 resident and non resident United Nations agencies and acted as the representative of the United Nations Secretary General in Sri Lanka.

She was a passionate and caring human being dedicated her life to serve people of the world the statement according to the statement.She was serving in Sri Lanka for six years.





Police Officer Arrested Over Sexually Molesting A School Girl In Polonnaruwa

A Police Officer attached to the Motor Traffic Police
Division in Polonnaruwa was arrested by the Police over abducting  and sexually molesting of a school girl studying in a popular school in Polonnaruwa of the   age around 16 years .

The suspected Police officer had abducted the school girl in front of her school while she was on the way to school  taken her to Police Motor Traffic division near by and sexually molesting her after showing obscene pictures in Police officer's mobile according to the complaint made to the Police by the teachers of the school girl.

Police is due to take a legal action against the suspected Police Officer according to reports.
