Two Persons Were Killed And Another Person Was Injured Due To A Road Accident On Badulle-Mahiyanganaya Road

Image result for accidentTwo persons were killed and another person was critically injured and hospitalized after the Van they were traveling in falling down a 40  feet deep precipice in Dunhinda on Badulla-Mahiyanganaya road this morning(19).

The injured person is currently receiving treatment in Badulle General Hospital .

Police have suspected that the  accident might  occurred due to the driver of the van which traveling from Suriyawewa to Mahiyanganaya at the time of the accident fallen a sleep while driving .

The 08th National War Hero Commemoration To Be Held This Evening(19)

The 08 th National War Hero Commemoration , (Remembrabce  Day) the day mark the eighth anniversary  of defeating terrorism in the country  is scheduled to be held in front of the War heroes memorial at Parliamentary Grounds in Kotte this evening(19) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena .

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe,the family members of the tri forces who died during the war against LTTE and Parliamentarians  are due to  participate in the commemoration .

A special traffic plan is due to be implemented during the commemoration from 2 p.m to 7 p.m this evening covering from polduwa junction to palawatte junction and parliament road,kimbulawala junction ,Sri Lanka-Japan friendship road.

Sri Lanka has defeated the LTTE terrorism in the country on 19 th of May 2009 .

Around 52 Passengers Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Bus Collision

Around 52 passenger have been injured 06 of them critically  and hospitalized due to a Private Bus -Sri Lanka Transport Board Bus collision occurred in kiyaduwa area,Akuressa(Southern Province) this morning(19).

The injured were admitted to the Akuressa Hospital and the 06 critically injured persons had transferred to the Matara General Hospital for further treatment. 

Around 31 females and drivers of the two buses are among the injured it has been revealed.

No Inquiry Regarding The Hand Bomb Throwing Incident In Sri Lanka Medical Council -A Medical Council Member

Addressing a press briefing held at the SLMC premises last noon (18) Dr.Gunasekera has stated that Police officers  who arrived in the scene last Saturday(13)  had gathered evidence regarding the hand bomb throwing incident and thereafter nothing has happened . Even the Police security has not been provided up to date  to the Medical Council premises which is a body responsible for  quality of the medical education in  Sri Lanka he has stressed.

"SLMC  has requested from the Inspector General Of Police to  provide police security for it's premises after the hand bomb throwing incident and still not received any positive response for that.This institution should be protected for the sake of implementing a quality medical service in the country " Dr.Gunasekera has said.

Addressing the briefing Professor Narada Wanasuriya who is also a SLMC Member has stressed that  the SLMC is not an instrument of the Government Medical Officers Association  at all and some politicians had misinterpreted the SLMC activities by considering it's stand on the SAITM Issue.

"What can someone gained by throwing a hand bomb at the Medical Council premises the president of the SLMC Professor Carlo Fonseka has questioned during his speech .

Airbus And Benz Companies In Germany To Provide Helicopters And Ambulances For Sri Lankan Health Service-Health Ministry

Related imageThe Airbus and Mercedes Benz car manufacturing  companies in Germany have agreed to provide 24 helicopters to airlift  patients in an emergency situations during natural disasters and to provide 1050 Ambulances and 240  emergency disaster trucks for an island wide Ambulance service to Sri Lanka during a meeting held between Sri Lankan Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne and representatives of German Banks providing financial support and government officials held in Germany on Wednesday (16).

Accordingly the Benz Company will provide 24 helicopters to Sri Lanka to utilize in airlifting patients and 1050 Ambulances and 240 emergency disaster trucks  will be provided by Airbus company the Ministry of Health has stated.

Sri Lankans will be recruited to the staff of Ambulances to be provided and they will receive the necessity training in Germany the Minister has further added.
