Mount Lavinia Magistrate Has Ordered To Exhume The Body Of Assassinated Former Sunday Leader Editor

Image result for lasantha wickrematunge deathThe Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court has today (08) ordered the exhumation of the remains of assassinated former editor of the Sunday Leader Paper Lasantha Wikramathunge on 27th of September from his Burial Grounds at Borella Cemetery.

Mount Lavinia Magistrate has made this order as per the request made by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to exhume the body of the former Editor who was shot and killed while on his way to office on January 2009.

CID has requested the court to exhume the body of assassinated former editor due to contradictions arrived among st Autopsy Report of the victim ,Surgeons Report and Government Analyst's Report on the murder it has been reported.

Army Intelligence Officer was arrested and remanded over the killing of the victim.

Five Persons Sentenced To Death Over Bharatha Lakshman's Murder -Judges Given A Divided Judgment

Image result for high court order duminda silva death sentenceThe trial at bar comprising three judges of the Colombo High Court who had sentenced five persons to death over the murder of former UPFA MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others today (08)has given a divided Judgment as the president of the bar High Court judge Shiran Gunaratne wants all 13 charged over the murder to release on bail.

However as other two judges in the Trial At Bar Pahmini Ranawake and C.B.S Moraias given the verdict as five persons including former MP Duminda Silva sentenced to death while eight other accused released on bail.

Meanwhile As the suspects were sent to the prison the Attorneys of former MP Duminda Silve has stated that they will appeal against  today's decision.

Five Persons Including Former UPFA MP Duminda Silva Were Sentenced To Death By The Colombo High Court Over Killing Of Former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandre

Image result for court verdictFive Persons including former United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Duminda Silva were sentenced to death by Colombo High Court this morning over the shooting and killing of  four persons including former UPFA MP and President's Adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandre at Mulleriyawa(In Colombo)on 08th of October 2011.

Accordingly Former MP Duminda Silva,Chaminda Ravi Jayanath allias "Dematagoda Chaminda",Sarath Bandara,Priyantha Janaka Bandara and Anura Thushara De Mel were sentenced to death by the High Court today.However the sentenced suspect Priyantha Janaka Bandara is still missing according to reports.

 All together 13 persons were charged over the shooting and killing of four persons at Mulleriyawa on 2011 .

The case was heard with trial at bar comprising High Court Judges Pathmini Ranwake,Shiran Gunaratne and C.B.S Moraias.

An Estimated 60 Million Children Aged 0-5 Years Across South East Asia Region Are Stunted Due To Malnutrition-Dr.Poonam Singh

Image result for malnutrition in south east asiaAn estimated 60 million Children aged 0-5 years across the South East Asia Region including in Sri Lanka are reported as stunted ,while 8.8 million are overweight as a result Malnutrition mostly women and girls"according to the World Health Organization's South Ease Asia Regional Director Dr.Poonam Kethrapal Singh.

According to the date revealed during the session on Malnutrition held under the ongoing South East Asia Regional Health Ministers Summit at Galle Face Hotel in Colombo yesterday(07) Thinness affects 24 -47 percent of Adolescent Girls in the region ,while between 2-24 percent are overweight Dr.Singh has stated.Among adult women ,prevalence of overweight or obesity ranges between 18 to 30 percent.

"The Current nutrition profile of the South East Asia Region is characterized by under nutrition rates that are declining slowly alongside rapidly rising rates of overweight and obesity.often within the same communities ,and even in the same house holds.This double burden is depriving people of reaching their potential ,and is fueling rising rates of non communicable diseases .We need to mobilize multisectoral action to address the problem at the earliest" She has stressed.

"As a means of fulfilling the objective of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Agenda calls for an end to all forms of malnutrition ,after consultations with all member countries in the region,WHO developed the Strategic Action Plan to reduce the Double Burden Of Malnutrition in the South-East Asia Region between 2016-2015 period.This will provide the basis for action moving forward" Dr.Singh has further stated.

Member Countries discussed the trans-generational impact on future generations caused by maternal under nutrition as well as overweight and obesity resulting from inadequate and unhealthy eating eating habits and low physical activity it has been reported.
