One Was Killed And Three Injured And Hospitalized Following A car They Were In Collided With A Safety Fence

One person was killed and three others injured and hospitalized today (03) following the car they were travelling in collided with a safety fence located near the Kuda Oya police check point at Thanamalvila area according to the police.

The injured were admitted to the Thanamalvila Base Hospital and later they were transferred to Hambanthota Base Hospital for further treatment.

The accident occurred as the driver of the car had fallen a sleep at the time of the accident the Thanamalvila Plice have stated.

The deceased has been identified as a 28 year old resident in atampitiya in Bandarawela Area.Thanamalvila Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

A Body Of A Flight Sergeant Attached To Sri Lanka Air Force Has Been Recovered From Rathmalana

A body of a 40 year old flight sergeant attached to Sri Lanka Air Force who died under suspicious circumstances has been recovered from  the Air Port Road in Rathmalana (In Colombo) this morning.

Police are conducting an investigation to ascertain whether the officer had died of an accident or someone else had killed him as he had sustained head injuries.

Sri Lanka To Eliminate Rabies And Measles By The Year 2020

Sri Lanka is due to eliminate the communicable  diseases Rabies and Measles by the year  2020 according to the national consultant of World Health Organization (WHO)Dr.Janakan Navarathnasingham .
Addressing the National Media Workshop organized  by the World Health Organization which was held in Colombo recently Dr.Navarathnasingham has stated in the year 2000 around 119 rabies deaths had been reported from the country and in 2015 only 19 rabies deaths had been reported.

The number of measles patients reported during the year is also on the decrease he has stressed.
