No Sri Lankan Has Been Affected Due To The Earthquake Occurred In Italy

Image result for earthquake italyNo Sri Lankan has been affected due to the strong earthquake meassuring as 6.2 in the Richter Scale occurred in Central Italy today (24)according to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Italy.

However the Sri Lankan High Commission officials are keep in touch with the  local authorities regarding the situation as there are a large number of Sri Lankans lives there Sri Lankan Ambassador To Italy Daya Palpola has stated..

Due to the earthquake occurred  in Norcia  area in Italy around 120 persons were killed and more than 1000 persons displaced it has been reported.

Government Will Consider The Proposals To Devolve The Powers To The Provinces-Minister Mano Ganeshan

Addressing a launching ceremony of the website for The Bilingual and Trilingual Languages Resources Pool held in Colombo the Minister has stressed that the implementation of the language policy which addressing the language related issues and implementing it in a real time basis will be solving more than half of the ethnic issues.

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal To Strengthen The Coordinating Secretariat For Reconcilation Mechanisms

Cabinet has yesterday (23)approved a proposal submitted by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe to strengthen the coordinating Secretariat for reconciliation mechanisms.

Accordingly cabinet has approved the proposal made by prime minister to provide necessary funds and human resources for the Secretariat.

The secretariat was established in 2015 as per a decision taken by the cabinet to implement decisions ,processes and programmes related to reconciliation productively.

It is headed by Mano Thiththawella and judicial mechanism and office of reparations ,The Office Of Missing Persons,Truth,Justice,Reconciliation and non recurrence commission will be functioned under the Secretariat.

Cabinet Approved To Set Up A National Information Center-Cabinet Spokesman

Image result for INFORMATIONThe Cabinet has approved a proposal made by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe to establish a National Information Center to coordinate the official information and functioned as the government's official media spokesman when providing official information according to the Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Media Gayantha Karunathilake.

As a part of the Right To Information Act recently approved by the Parliament government has planned to collect public views for policy making and to issue accurate and trustworthy official information of the government to print and electronic media through this National Information Center  the Cabinet Spokesman has stated during today's Cabinet Press Briefing.

Activities of   Government Information Department will not be influenced through this Center he has further added.

Senior DIG Anura Senanayake And Former Crimes OIC Sumith Perera Were Further Remanded Over The Murder Of Former Rugby Player

Image result for remanded Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) Anura Senanayake and former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita Police Sumith Perera who were detained and remanded over the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen have been  further remanded by the  Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris  today(24) until 07th of September .

The two suspects have been further remanded after they are being produced before the Magistrate Court today.

When the case on Thajudeen's murder was taken into consideration today at the Colombo Magistrate Court the government lawyer has informed the court that further investigations are underway on  CCTV footage and telephone calls taken attached to the murder .

Former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen was murdered in May 2012 and it was earlier considered by the authorities as a death occurred due to an accident.
