Government Has Decided To Reduce The VAT Increased On Private Health Sector-Taxes On Cigarettes,Liquor And Palm Oil Increased-Minister Amunugama

Image result for taxesThe government has decided to reduce the value added tax (VAT) imposed on private health sector recently and increase the taxed imposed on Cigarettes,Liquor and Palm Oil for the benefit of general public the Minister of Special Assignments Dr,Sarath Amunugama has stated.

The Cabinet Committee On Economic Affairs has taken a decision on this and the decision is due to be submitted to Cabinet next week the Minister has stated.

European Union Has Completely Lifted The Fish Exports Ban Imposed On Sri Lanka-Government Information Department

Image result for fish export ban by european unionThe European Union has completely lifted the ban imposed on Fish Exports from Sri Lanka according to the Government Information Department.

The European Union has imposed fish export ban on Sri Lanka with effect from January 2015 by stating   unreported illegal fishing practices adapted by some  Sri Lankan Fishermen should be stopped.

Before the ban Sri Lanka has exported one third of it's fish exports to the European Union.

The Union has already recommended to the European Council to  revoke the fish exports ban imposed on Sri Lanka and it is due to implement  legally on this July.

Police Used Tear Gas And Water Cannons To Disperse A Protest Campaign Organized By Kelaniya University Students

Image result for kelaniya university student protestThe Police have used tear gas and water cannons to dissolved a protest campaign organized by Kelaniya University Students  yesterday(15).

Earlier a court has issued an order avoiding University Students of conducting the protest march against arresting of a group of Kelaniya university  students.The protest march was due scheduled to be conducted  from Technical Junction in Colombo To Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

The protest march which was organized by Inter University Students Federation tried to proceed towards Presidential Secretariat and as a result Police have used tear gas and water cannons to dispersed the protest.
