Sri Lanka Navy Detained Six Indian Fishermen While Illegally Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have yesterday(09) detained six Indian Fishermen along with their trawler while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters in north of Thalaimannar(In Northern Province).

The detained fishermen who left from South Indian City of Rameswaram on Wednesday along with 3000 other fishermen were detained and handed over to the fisheries inspector in Thalaimannar for future course of action according to the Navy.

During First Five Months Of This Year 135 HIV/AIDS Positives Detected From The Country

During first six months of this year from January to May 135 HIV /AIDSPositives have been detected from the island according to director of National Sexually Transmitted Diseases.AIDS Control Programme Dr.Sisira Liyanage.

The majority of these HIV Positives were males of the age group 25-45 Dr.Liyanage has stressed.

The spreading of HIV/AIDS Virus among persons who sexually contacted sex workers and male to male sexual contacts are on the increase in the country he has further stated.

Navy Have Detained Three Local Fishermen While Ileglaly Fishing In Sri Lanakan Waters

Image result for sri lankan waters fishingThe Sri Lanka Navy Personal have today (09)detained three local fishermen while involving in illegal fishing by using unauthorized fishing nets in the seas off ippantivu and periyaarachchal areas .

During the raid the Navy Personal have taken to custody two fiber glass dinghies and two banned monofilament fishing nets according to Navy.

The detained fishermen and the equipment were handed over to the assistant director fisheries in Puttalam for future course of action.
