WHO Provided Rs.1 Million To Provide Facilities For Flood And Landslide Victims

Image result for world health organizationThe World Health Organization (WHO) has provided Rs.1 Million for Ministry Of Health to provide facilities for flood and landslide victims.Another Rs.6 million is due to provide shortly in  this regard the Sri Lankan Office Of WHO has announced.

According to a WHO release the organization has provided hygiene kits,telecommunication equipment and chlorine tablets to the Ministry Of Health and supported the deployment of medical teams to flood and landslide affected areas with logistic  supplies.

Defense Ministry Has Announced A General Amnestry Period For Tri Force Deserters

Image result for sri lanka ministry of defenseThe Defense Ministry has today(03) announced a General Amnesty Period for Tri Force deserters enabling them to receive their legal discharge from 13th of June to 30th of June .

Accordingly the deserters attached to Army,Navy and Air Force will receive this Amnesty Period.

Leftist JVP Members Statged A Demonstration Infront Of Colombo Fort Railway Station Against VAT Hike

The leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) has today(03)staged a demonstration in front of Colombo Fort Railway Station against the recent VAT(Value Added Tax) hike implemented by the government which caused a price hike of several commodities and vehicles.

The demonstration was held under the patronage of JVP Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake and several other JVP members .The JVP has stated  that the increasing of VAT by 4% from 11% to 15% is a burden for public.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION HAS ANNOUNCED THE ELIMINATION OF LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS BY SRI LANKA AND MALDIVES

The World Health Organization(WHO)has today(03) announced that Sri Lanka and Maldives have successfully eliminated lymphatic filariasis (Filaria) the disease that was crippling  people for decades.

Lymphatic Filariasis forcing those people have it to lead a life of stigma,discrimination and poverty WHO has stated.

"The achievement made by Sri Lanka and Maldives demonstrates the resolve of those countries and the region as a whole to eliminate all neglected tropical diseases ,which have no reason to continue and effect the lives of people" the Regional Director Of WHO's South East Asia Region Dr.Poonam Khretrapal has stressed.
