Landslide Warnings Issued Again For Five Distrcits In The Island

Image result for sri lanka landslidesAs heavy showers expected to continue in most parts of the island within next 24 hours ,there's a possibility of landslides in five districts according to authorities  .

Accordingly people living in Udapalatha and several areas of Kandy,Ratnapura ,Nuwara Eliya,Kalutara and Kegalle Districts are advised to be vigilant on the situation.

As a result of heavy showers landslides occurred in several areas of Kegalle and Kandy Districts two Weeks ago which left several people dead,

Disaster Management Center Alerted People Living In Lower River Bank Areas Of Three Rivers On Floods

The Disaster Management Center(DMC) has  alerted the residents living in lower river bank areas of three rivers Kelani,Kalu and Ging  to be vigilant as the  water levels of those rivers are on the rise since yesterday(28) due to the heavy showers.

The DMC has alerted the residents living in lower river bank areas including surrounding areas of Kelani River,Palatupana,Thawalama Baddegama and Mallakanda Areas to be  vigilant  it has been reported..

Meanwhile several places in Colombo District  including Thunmulla Junction,Armor Street ,Kosgashandiya ,Inguru Kade Junction and Panchikawatte have been reported as inundated yesterday(28) morning as a result pf heavy showers prevailing in the District.

Authorities Issued Landslide Warning To Five Districts Again As Rain Continues

The Authorities have again today(27) issued a landslide warning to five districts in the country as heavy showers expected to continue within next 24 hours .

Accordingly there's a possibility of landslides in Kandy,Kegalle,Nuwara Eliya,Ratnapura and Kalutara Districts National Building Research Organization has announced.

A large area of land belonging to Udawalawe area on Hanthana Mountain too is on landslide  risk it has been reported.

Meanwhile the Meteorology Department has stated that heavy showers will be experienced today as well in most parts of the country.
