Around 60 Workers Attached To Kahatagaha Graphite Mine Are In Protest By Demanding Their New Year Bonus

Around 60 Workers out of  100 Workers attached to Kahatagaha Graphite Mine are in protest inside the mine since last evening by demanding  new year bonus from their  employer.

The group of workers had launched the protest after their employer has decided not to grant them the Rs.15,000 New Year Bonus this year which had been  paid  during previous years.

The Kahatagaha Graphite Mine Administrators have informed the Labor Commissioner on the protest .

A Resident Of Akuressa Was Shot And Killed Last Night

An unidentified gunman had  shot and killed a resident of  Ilukpalassa ,Akuressa last night while he was in his garden according to the Police.

The victim has succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the hospital.

Akuressa Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Two Persons Arrested Along With A Stock Of Fire Arms And Bullets At Habaraduwa

The Habaraduwa (In Southern Province)Police have yesterday (29) arrested two persons from a house at Habaraduwa with five fire arms and sixty nine live bullets in their possession.

Habaraduwa Police have made these arrests under a tip off received by them.

The suspects who are residents of Boralasgamuwa and Unawatuna Areas are due to produce before Galle Magistrate Court.

A Stock Of Explosives Have Been Found From A Well In Mannar

A stock of explosives including A Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher and several Johnny Mines have been found from a well at Iluppukadavai in Mannar(In Northern Province) according to Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera.

Johnny Mines were later defused under  a court order the Police Media Spokesman has stated.

This is the second recovery of explosives and ammunition reported within last 24 hour period he has stressed.
