Minister Keheliya Rambukwella Accidentally Fell In Australia

The Minister of Mass Media And Information Keheliya Rambukwella has been reported as admitted to Hospital in Melbourne, Australia following an accidental fall occurred in a Hotel where he is staying. 

It has been reported that Minister has been slipped inside his hotel and  suffered with minor  injuries to his  knees .He has underwent two  minor surgeries  upon being admitted to Melbourne Hospital according to sources.The Minister's condition is now stable according his close aids.The Minster who is also the Cabinet Spokesman is on a visit to Australia to participate Sri Lankan  Independence Day Celebrations in that country.

Meanwhile the Government Information Department has stated that the Injured Minister Keheliya Rambukwella will return to Sri Lanka as soon as he  recovers from two minor surgeries he undergone in Australia.

President Has Urged That Executive Powers Entitiled To Him Will Not Used Against People's Wishes

President Mahinda Rajapaksha has said today(04) that the Executive Powers vested to him under the Constitution will not be used to act against the Wishes of the people by stressing committed towards Good Governance and Independence of  Judiciary.

Addressing the National Independence Day Celebrations held this morning at Anuradhapua President has also said that the Parliament is  Most Suitable place to find a solution to the National Issue and urged that all parties should unite to do so.He also stressed taht none will be allowed to deprive the citizens of their right to received free educationa dn free health care facilities currently enjoyed.

The President also said that People are now enjoying true  freedom of Independence after the war ended and stressed the need to unite to develop the country now in same manner people united to crush the LTTE War.

Sri Lanka Celebrates 64th Independence Day Today (04th)

The Democratic Socialist Republic Of Sri Lanka will celebrate it's 64th Independence Day today (04)Exactly 64 years ago in 04th of February 1948 Sri Lanka has  gained independence from British Rulers.

This Years Independence Day Celebrations scheduled to be held out side Colombo at  Anuradhapura District (In North Central Province) today under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksha.President is also due to inaugurated the "Dayata Kirula" Exhibition which portrayed Sri Lankan Heritage at Anuradhapura.The Exhibition will be open to public from 05th of February (Sunday) to 10th of February.

First Death Was Reported From Southern Expressway

The first death occurred in the newly opened Southern Express way was reported today (03) from 21 st post near Kalutara.According to the Police a car drove by a 26 year old youth was skidded off the road near 21st post and  youth was killed in the accident.

The Southern Expressway first of it's kind in Sri Lanka was opened on 27th of November 2011 by President Mahinda Rajapaksha .Since then a large number of vehicles are reported as  using  the expressway and fair amount of accidents too occurred during last two months.

Govt.To Amend Motor Traffic Act

The Cabinet has decided to amend Motor Traffic Act to enable imposing  of spot fines on those who are violating Vehicle Seat Belt Law Cabinet Spokesman ,Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has said today (02) during the Cabinet Press Briefing.

President Mahinda Rajapaksha too has instructed the Inspector General Of Police (IGP) earlier to amend the regulation so the motorists who are violating seat belt law can pay their fines through receipts instead of appearing directly before court.Through this Government aims to amend punishment for motorists who are violating the seat belt  law by only fining them without producing them before court.
